2012 Maison Williams Chase Gevrey Chambertin

by: Williams Chase

Discovery

Having heard great things about this wine in the past I was delighted when the opportunity to visit a vineyard sprung up. Nicknamed by some as the King of Burgundy, it would be a sin to not include it in my collection!

Tasting Notes

Medium red in colour, we sense a deep, wild nose that combines raspberry and crushed strawberry with smoky oak and rose petal to finish. It is fleshy and deep, but with harmonious ripe acidity framing and intensifying the flavours of raspberry, minerals, mocha and flowers. This is a structured wine with substantial fine tannins and a mounting finish of red fruits, spices and candied cherries.
